We just love avocados! Even more so, we love when they are super ripe and it’s zesty guacamole time! There are so many different ways to make guacamole. Some people have favorite ingredients, others have a favorite texture/consistency. We love a blend of smooth and slightly chunky with lots of lemon zest and a hint of cilantro! Our kids have always loved avocado ever since they were babies. Avocados were actually both of our kids first whole (non-mashed) food. Needless to say, our family is obsessed with avocados.
Now we just wish our avocado trees would grow in our garden, so we could enjoy them anytime we want. It is a not-so-patient waiting game of many more years. Until then, we will continue preparing our delicious zesty guacamole with store bought avocados.
The measurements and recipe specifics for our Zesty Guacamole can be found in the recipe card below.
Zesty Guacamole Ingredients
Spices: salt, pepper, garlic, fresh cilantro
The Good Stuff: avocados, tomatoes, lemon
How to Prep
Cut and peel the avocados: if this is your first avo experience – cut around the perimeter and open into two halves. Remove the pit and scoop out the avocado, throwing away the peel and pit.
Dice tomatoes. We prefer small grape tomatoes. The flavor is more potent than larger tomatoes, and you end up with skin on each bite rather than the mushy texture of the inside of a large tomato.
Grab a lemon and either cut in half or into quarters (depending on the size)
Mince the cilantro with your hands: using only the leaves (removing the stems)
Combine & Enjoy
Mix all of the ingredients together. We like to slightly mash the avocados, while leaving small chunks in tact.
Adjust the flavor depending on your preference. We put extra lemon in ours to give it that crisp, zesty flavor. Our boys prefer less lemon, and a bit more salt.
Serve with just about anything! Eat it as a snack with pita chips or tortilla chips. Serve it on the side of any main dish, or inside tacos. You can even simply grab a spoon and dive right in!
This Zesty Guacamole is our favorite version, but please share any modifications or additions you prefer. We are always looking for different ways to enhance the flavor to one of our favorite snacks!
