Acai bowls are so refreshing and delicious.
The best part is that its so universal! Everyone in our family loves creating their own by adding tasty toppings. Our children love adding their favorite berries. Greg always adds extra granola. I enjoy mine with coconut flakes.
Every time we make acai bowls and acai smoothies, it is very nostalgic for me. In college, I studied abroad in Brazil for a summer. Every morning on the way to class, I would drink an acai berry smoothie. It was plain and simple, and utterly delicious. When I returned back to the states, it was very challenging to find. I craved it for a few years, and was so elated when it became popular here.
Ingredients:
1 cup of mango, frozen
1 cup of strawberries, frozen
1 pack of frozen acai berry, 3.5 oz
1 cup of bananas, frozen
5-6 frozen cubes of almond milk
1 dragon fruit
1/2 cup of almond milk (substitute soy milk for nut allergies)
Additional fun and tasty toppings (amount of your choosing): Granola, coconut flakes
Steps:
- Add all ingredients into blender
- Blend on high until consistency is thick, & fully blended
- Try mixing the ingredients around with a spoon during, or in between, blends as the
thick acai bowls tend to take a little more effort to ensure the consistency is to your liking
