Did you know making fresh vegan tortillas is actually pretty easy? When a friend mentioned she was going to attempt fresh tortillas, we thought mmmm that sounds too delicious to pass up. But it seemed like a such daunting task. Having lived in San Diego, we were once spoiled with the best fresh tortilla making restaurant options. So we used that inspiration to get started.
We needed to first make sure we had the appropriate ingredients to get the right texture. Getting a tasty flavor without lard was an absolute must! As well as, getting the right flavor so we didn’t need any additional oil or butter. After what feels like a million attempts, we finally got the best version! Not only are we thrilled that we can make tortillas literally anytime we are craving them, we will also be saving ourselves a ton of money! Our favorite local place charges $2 per tortilla. At that cost, we are making about 16 of them!
The measurements and recipe specifics can be found in the recipe card below.
